Celebrating 25 Years: Scholarship Program Reaches Milestone
The Smith-Hutson Scholarship program was established at SHSU in 1996 for incoming freshmen pursuing business degrees. Now reaching its 25-year anniversary, the program has been open to students across all academic colleges since 2014, with a total of 668 awarded Bearkats so far.
Heritage Magazine: First-Gen Student Athlete Chasing His Dreams
Quentin Brown is a student-athlete with first-team All-Conference linebacker honors for the national champion Sam Houston State Bearkats football team. While the honor is certainly one to be proud of, what he sees as his most important designation, representing the future of his family, is the “first-generation” title.
Here To Help: Tripod's Thrift Shop
Tripod Thrift Shop is now open and here to help. Located at 1619 Sam Houston Avenue, right next to Subway, students can come pick up clothing and necessities from 1-5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays or 3-6 p.m. on Tuesdays. All they have to do is swipe their Bearkat OneCard upon entry.
Annual Kat Comedy Showcase Bringing Hannibal Buress To Campus
A favorite event among Sam Houston State University students, the Kat Comedy Showcase produced by the Division of Student Affairs will be held Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum. This event is back by popular demand from students and will feature comedian Hannibal Buress.
